Philately is proposed as a historical source for the history of chemistry in the 19th century. The philatelic iconography consulted and presented, accounts for the work of characters, such as Dalton, Davy, Berzelius, Thénard, Avogadro, Gay-Lussac, Charles, Loschmidt, Perrin, Wöhler, Kekulé, Bútlerov, Liebig, Mendeleiev, del Rio Fernández , Pasteur, Zinin, Berthelot, Kirchhoff, Döbereiner, Gadolin, Vauquelin, Pelletier, Caventou, Śniadecki, Heller, Bayer, Gmelin, Irinyi, von Pettenkofer, Nencki, Lampadius, Schönbein, Teclu, von Than and Voskresensky, have left their mark on history of chemistry.
