SALDANA PEREIRA, Rosângela  e  RAMBLA, Xavier. Racial Inequality in Brazil: Reality Belies the Myth. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2007, vol.69, n.3, pp.401-426. ISSN 2594-0651.

Brazil has the second largest population of black ancestry of the world, after Nigeria, and records sharp indexes of social inequality compared to other countries. The article analyzes the ethnic axis of inequality in Brazil. An overview of ethnic-race relations is presented in order to report how the Brazilian social sciences have taken account of this divide; some indicators portray income and education inequalities between the main ethnic categories in the country. The article leads to the conclusion that an ethnic conflict underlies Brazilian society.

Palavras-chave : Brazil; race relations; racial discrimination; indicators of racial inequality.
