CHAVEZ AGUILAR, Pamela. Liberating words: Teaching as admonitio in Augustine of Hippo's De magistro. Tópicos (México) [online]. 2017, n.53, pp.303-324. ISSN 0188-6649.

This paper intends to relate the action of docere as admonitio in St. Augustine's De magistro, with the idea of free will, freedom and the process of liberation that takes place along the historic-biographical course. The master's words point at something, thus placing the disciple in the face of diverse free actions: attention, experience, judgment and assent. Being an active subject, the disciple prepares to act along the original admonitio by which human beings long for truth, in via towards full-fledged freedom.

Palavras-chave : Saint Augustine of Hippo; On the Teacher; admonitio; freedom; truth.
