In this paper I present the results of my anthropological research on sexual orientation and gender identity change efforts (SOGICE) in Mexico with people assigned male at birth. The objective was focused on getting to know the lived experiences in these practices; therefore, the methodology was based on in-depth interviews to know their life stories. This technique allowed finding the sociocultural contexts that lead people to seek modifying the sexual orientation and gender expression and identity of people who dissent from the binary and heterosexual sex-gender system. The results proved the salient presence of violence in the education of masculinity for those ones whose gender expression divert from the hegemonic model, which increases considerably during the SOGICE techniques.
