LAGARDA-CUEVAS, Juan et al. Anaesthetic considerations in patients undergoing assisted robotic surgery for radical prostatectomy: a case report. Rev. mex. anestesiol. [online]. 2019, vol.42, n.4, pp.302-306. Epub 23-Ago-2021. ISSN 0484-7903.
Robotic assisted surgery is a relatively new surgical procedure in our country. However, this type of procedure is already common around the world especially in developed countries where the experience is high. The indications to perform these procedures have been extended in terms of specialties that can perform them as well as the type of patient that can be scheduled to it. Initially robotic assisted surgeries were primarily used in urologic patients but currently it is being used in minimally invasive thoracic, oncological and general surgeries. Therefore, is important to know the physiological changes that these procedures cause in the anesthetized patient in order to successfully conduct the anesthetic plan. In the following article we present a case of robot assisted urological surgery (radical prostatectomy) followed by a literature review of the anesthetic considerations for this type of procedure.
