GONZALEZ, Fernando M.. Michel de Certeau: explorer of absences, belongings, identity limits and debts. Hist. graf [online]. 2013, n.40, pp.13-41. ISSN 1405-0927.

This essay explores some of the effects of what Michel de Certeau called "Splintered Christianity" had on Jesuit and Christian identities; from the possibility of exploring the simple articulation of a dichotomy between the secular and the sacred world, to the radical critique of a supposed "essential" that would remain identical throughout time, and that one would simply adapt to contemporary needs. This essay will also explore the research conducted by De Certeau on the difficulties of remaining a Jesuit when one becomes an operator of the social sciences, and the risks these sciences imposed on the secularization of thought and the adjective "religious".

Palavras-chave : difference; absence; origin; inventions of the faith.
