In this paper I will discuss an early stage of Blumenberg’s intelectual production, when he was still a young scholar without any permanent position. I will try to describe his contributions to Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk radio between 1949 and 1955, with venues in Hamburg and Köln, and Südwestfunk radio, in Baden-Baden.The latter had a prestigious night cultural program, the Nachtprogramm, in which distinguished authors such as Alfred Döblin, Karl Jaspers or Ernst Jünger also made contributions. During these years, the complex sociogenetic process of Blumenberg becoming an intelectual of national fame took place in an environment still affected by the ravages of World War II and the nazi regime. During this period, an intense evolution of the philosophical interests of the young Blumenberg took place, especially from his doctoral thesis -about medieval scholastic philosophy- and his habilitation thesis -devoted to the analysis of the husserlian phenomenology crisis. Progressively, Blumenberg turned to the interpretation of the spiritual situation of postwar Germany through the history of philosophy, the incipient Cold War and the presence of theological topics in contemporary literature, particularly in Graham Grenne’s and Evelyn Waugh’s novels.
