CARRANZA RIOS, Marco Antonio; MINO GRACIA, Fernando; GACHUZ FUENTES, Fernando e CARRASCO RIVERA, Miguel Ángel. Transnational Narratives of Violence. The Case of Somos. Hist. graf [online]. 2023, n.61, pp.207-250. Epub 28-Ago-2023. ISSN 1405-0927. https://doi.org/10.48102/hyg.vi61.483.
This work looks at the notions of memory immersed in transnational media products. Through the conceptual modalities proposed by Astrid Erll, the processes of the intermedial trace, the transmedial remediation, and the intramedial implications of Somos., a serialized story produced by Netflix which adapts the “Allende massacre” to fiction, are described and analyzed. We propose that although Somos. states the intention of replacing the frivolous discourse of violence with a “realistic” account focused on its victims, in fact, it complements an audiovisual discourse-and contributes to a collective memory-that feeds a transnational hegemonic narrative of “Latin American violence”.
