BONILLA MUNOZ, Marco Antonio e GRINBERG, Silvia. School: Between Contingency and Aporia. Illegality among the Masses and Urban Poverty. RMIE [online]. 2019, vol.24, n.80, pp.197-221. ISSN 1405-6666.
This article is based on the results of research completed in a secondary school located in a context of extreme urban poverty in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The objective is to describe illegality among the masses and its effect on daily life at school: situations such as shootings, small-scale drug trafficking, illegal waste disposal, invasion of public land, and other legal violations. Through the notions of contingency as possibility, and of aporia as a dead end, the article attempts to explain the unique role of school in dealing with illegality; specifically in contemporary societies where the existence of both young people and schools is in a constant state of precariousness.
