ARIAS-ORTEGA, Katerin; PINO, Miguel Del e MUNOZ, Gerardo. University Teaching in the Indigenous Context: Facilitating and Obstructive Factors in Professional Training. RMIE [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.95, pp.1253-1278. Epub 30-Jan-2023. ISSN 1405-6666.
This article presents the results of research on university teaching in a Mapuche context, at a conventional university in La Araucanía, Chile. Qualitative methodology with a descriptive scope was employed. Semi-structured interviews were held with teachers who work at universities in Mapuche territory. The information was analyzed from the perspective of grounded theory, supplemented by content analysis. The main results identify the need for ongoing training and intercultural awareness of teachers who work with new professionals. We conclude that professional training from an intercultural perspective implies that teachers' practices should consider Indigenous demands and objectives in teaching, by incorporating their world visions to offer training with sociocultural and territorial relevance in various disciplines.
