In the second half of the XX century, opposite of political speeches and some theories, in the poor countries the falling of the demographic growth, induced for international policies, had not raised in economic growth and better living conditions. In this paper, the author introduces the question about our participation in the making decision oriented to rise welfare. Later, he reviews the main research areas in population and makes an inventory about "fashion"coming abroad, point out adverse balance because acritical adoption, lack theoretical creativity and shallowness in the explanations about interrelations between socioeconomic, political and cultural factors. Finally, the author makes a revision of the demographic practical in Mexico, to point out lack of rigorous demographers, persistence in reduced explications, low group and interinstitutional cooperation and absence of resources.
