The present article aimes to describe the problematic aspects involved in the exertion of male violence within the couple. Firstly, some data about male violence within the couple gathered from surveys are presented. In them, males are considered as units of analysis. From these data, some points about the stereotyped perception of genders are introduced. Secondly, a brief note is made about the main orientations used in psychology to deal with violent males. Also, typologies used here are outlined to some extent. Finally, emphasis is made on the importance of sociocultural contexts, considered as spaces of sense and meaning of male domestic violence within the couple.
