In this work, the relation between "new" family behaviour and ideological concepts of women in analysed, taking into account a survey conducted in Montevideo and its Metropolitan Area. Based on analysing of the results of an applied survey of 1 806 women, aged between 25 and 54 years, the author builds three factors of ideological demensions underlying the surveys: one of gender equality, another of conservatism and, last, a factor of institutionalism. This work concludes with the necessity to incorporate recursive explications including as well the selectivity by values effect as the adequacy of values by transition postulated by Surkyn and Lesthaegue (2002).
