Legitimizing the existence of a patriarchal system, State and society have tried to strip women who exercise prostitution of autonomy over their bodies, under an imaginary that places them as profane devices, for the pleasure of others and in which it is to register narratives violence, abuse and control. This article arises from the interaction methodological theoretical perspectives typical of the field of human rights, sociology and feminism. The “body” and “agency” analysis categories were analyzed from a human rights and gender perspective, which make it possible to understand the economic-erotic transaction from a framework of unequal exercise of power sustained in structures that work against the development of agency on the body. The objective of the study was to inquire about the experiences that women who practice prostitution live in regard to the aforementioned, as well as the strategies they implement for management in a transaction in which not only their bodies but their wills are intended to be bought. It was a qualitative investigation in which five women who offered their “prostitution services” on the Internet were interviewed. The narratives show the challenges that body management entails and the agency tools they implement to ensure the greatest possible health and safety conditions in the context of prostitution. Their narratives show the effort they make to deploy agency against the risks that prostitution entails, as well as the existence of a patriarchal culture that understands their bodies as territories without limits for all types of violence, erotic and repulsive.
