How are cultural gender patrons constructed in the rural areas? Gabriela Rodríguez interviewed three generations of men and women in a working class sugar cane rural community in the state of Puebla to compare similarities and differences in the courtship and sexual practices. The recognition of desire and its confrontation with the established sexual roles appears to be in conflict. Rodriguez study analyzes sexual social organization, takes into account women and men’s responses to their encounters and how they describe themselves when confronted with this subjective reality of their feelings and expected behavior.
