The present article intends to review the "post-authoritarian" bibliography that has been compiled on the powers and the judicial systems in Latin America, and particularly in Mexico. It is far from being a thorough examination of the state of the art, and rather it indicates the maps and the guidelines from where to look at the judicial powers in the so-called "transitional" processes for the consolidation of political democracy.
