Resumo

Taking into account the reflections of the town of Ayuujk of Santa Maria Tlahuitoltepec Mixe Oaxaca (Vargas et al., 2008; Manzo, 2009; La Pierre, 2009a, 2009b) we present a theoretical -methodological approach, called Wejën Kajën, to teach and learn mathematics in the secondary and tertiary level of education a result of applications of Tlahuitoltepec's studies of mathematical concepts (Regino et al., Vargas, 2011). This approach arises from the necessity to give adequate attention to students from the Ayuujk culture who attend the educative institutions in Tlahuitoltepec, and we believe that it has the potential to give us some ideas about how to provide adequate education for students from indigenous cultures from our country.
