CASILLAS ALVARADO, Miguel A.; RAMIREZ MARTINELL, Alberto  e  ORTEGA GUERRERO, Juan Carlos. Technological affinities of university students. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.70, pp.151-175. ISSN 1665-2673.

In this article we present an analysis of the perceptions and evaluations that two thousand students at the Universidad Veracruzana have about information and communication technology (ITC). The perceptions of the student body were collected between 2014 and 2015 through an online survey designed in the framework of the research project, "Digital gaps in higher education."

With the compiled data, an Index of Technological Affinities was constructed which allowed us to explore the student culture with regards to the digital world. Through a detailed statistical analysis, correlations were made among age, sex, geographical region and academic area of the students.

The results obtained were mixed. Consequently, before such diversity of perceptions and values, institutions of higher education should recognize that there are different conditions for learning and that, in principle, any general and homogenous institutional measure, such as the creation of identical courses for office software for all students are destined to fail.
