In this work we presents an analysis of the group velocity in one dimensional photonic crystal based on the calculation of the Band Structure in the Extended Zone representation. The impossibility of negative group velocity in the second band is discussed by presenting a systematic variation of the filling fraction of the crystal. We discuss some recent reports where exist misunderstandings about the group velocity calculations in Photonic Crystals.
