AGUILAR OCHOA, Arturo. Maximilian’s charro costume: Does it show sympathy for the Mexican chinacos or Emperor nationalism?. Sig. his [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.44, pp.50-83. Epub 01-Ago-2022. ISSN 1665-4420.
The article seeks to unravel the origin of another myth around the figure of Maximilian of Habsburg. It has often been repeated that the charro costume used by the Emperor in his travels to the interior of our country, despite seeking only the adherence of many Mexicans, it was not well seen and was a suit worn by the bandits, the Republicans and the Chinacos of that time. The objective is to deny this claim and explain why and with what intentions that legend was built, in the light of the reproaches and faults that were attributed to the Emperor to his fall.
