The following article analyses from an international legal perspective the implications for Costa Rica of building a road parallel to the boundary line with Nicaragua, initiated in 2011, that includes the San Juan River shared between the two countries. The objective is placing the scope of this dispute in the light of international law after a request of Nicaragua before the International Court of Justice in the Hague, in March 2011.
