KIRSTIN KOELTZSCH, Grit e NORMANDO CRUZ, Enrique. Transdisciplinary Reflections for the Study of the Body and Dance. A Case in Tucumán (Jujuy, 18th-19th Centuries). Abstract:
The aim of the article is to present some transdisciplinary theoretical reflections on the body and dance in the globality of Western modernity in order to apply them to the research on the American colonial period. The perspective and historical period are largely understudied in current social research of this Argentinian region. The focus of the case study is a small city in the region of Tucumán, based on a wide sample of original historical documents corresponding to the 18th-19th centuries. A key finding of this article is that the study of the body and dance is better performed from a heterogeneous field of study, because it implies considering the confluence of body perception transmitted from the past and the articulation with contemporary theoretical reflection. In addition, the paper identifies new sources and provides analogical and relational interpretations on the American and Western European body and dance.
