HIGASHI, Alejandro. Genetic/Epigenetic Criticism and Poetics. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2022, vol.12, n.23, 00041. Epub 27-Maio-2024. ISSN 2007-8846. https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl122320221468.
In this paper, I propose to show that the theoretical concepts of genetic criticism can be usefully applied to the study of epitextual variation, as a result of the complex interaction between public and private forces once the work is released. The analysis of a manuscript of Luis Cernuda 1902-1963), postexts of Hernan Bravo Varela (1979) and the text as process concept as shown in Stephanie Alcantar’s (1990) Choreography of fear exposes the complex relationships between very different works that coincide in an extended notion of the text as process. It is a novel approach that allows presenting the complex dialogue between the private and public states of a work (between its rewritings through different traditions and even between its interpretations) until its irruption in the most recent poetics.
