PEREZ PINEDA, Jorge Antonio. Recent Trends of Spanish Foreign Direct Investment in Mexico. Economía UNAM [online]. 2009, vol.6, n.17, pp.92-112. ISSN 1665-952X.
Understanding the determining factors and trends of foreign investment on the part of principal partners or foreign investors in the country has become a necessity beyond the merely contextual; it is an input that will permit institutional improvement, the reform or implementation of laws and regulations such as the "Foreign Investment Law", or challenges such as the creation of ProMéxico. For this reason, this work presents a brief description of the theories for the determining factors of foreign direct investment (FDI), in order to center on the analysis of the trends of Spanish fdi in Latin America; with particular emphasis on Mexico, where the presence of Spain is more and more notable in sectors such as: financial sector, transport and telecommunications, energy, food and beverages.
