With the objective of knowing the cultural and environmental effects of development projects in indigenous territories, this case study describes the conflict in which the communities of the Coast of Oaxaca region have been engaged since the construction of the Paso de la Reina dam. During research, observation and key informant interviews were used, and documents produced by actors involved in this conflict were retrieved. Intervention in this indigenous territory occurred between 2007 and 2014, and this was the start of the organized resistance of communities in the face of a regional project they did not ask for and they did not have approved.
