GASPAR OLVERA, Selene. Measuring emigration from Mexico to the United States, 1950-2016. Región y sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.30, n.73, 0005. ISSN 2448-4849.  https://doi.org/10.22198/rys.2018.73.a847.

The goal of this article is to review, analyze, and follow up on the methodology, the figures of the main sources of information, and the basic questions: place of birth, previous residence, and year of entry of Mexican immigrants into the United States, in order to calculate the flow of those who entered that country. It is a five-year, from 1950 to 2014, and annual, from 1991 to 2014, estimate; likewise, the importance of choosing the procedure and the data sources in order to calculate the population projections in Mexico is shown because these are the basic input to do so. It is argued that economic and American labor market conditions modulate the migration flows of Mexicans to that country, and the feasibility of predicting their behavior in certain scenarios.
