ZAMORA TORRES, América Ivonne; DIAZ BARAJAS, Yesica e JIMENEZ BELMONT, María Concepción. Entrepreneurial Women in Mexico in Times of Pandemic. Región y sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.34, e1534. Epub 08-Abr-2022. ISSN 2448-4849. https://doi.org/10.22198/rys2022/34/1534.
Objective:
to review the impact of the variation in economic activity, unemployment, and the participation in the labor market in 2020, into the positioning of women entrepreneurs in the states of Mexico, in the context of the pandemic caused by the COVID-19.
Methodology:
the study was carried out using a hierarchical cluster model.
Results:
four groups of states were established, in which the mentioned factors affected women’s entrepreneurship in different ways.
Limitations:
it would be convenient to deepen the study by adding variables such as women's access to financing and gender violence into the model.
Value:
the study provides current references that can support future research on gender issues and regional development, as well as improve the analysis of public policies with a gender perspective from the local level.
Conclusions:
the pandemic has negatively impacted different factors that determine the participation of women entrepreneurs, showing a significant setback in such participation compared to how it was in 2019, mainly for women employers.
