ALONSO HERRERO, José Antonio. The Other Side of the Holy See. Tla-melaua [online]. 2016, vol.10, n.40, pp.130-150. ISSN 2594-0716.
The central aim of this article is to analyze the ‘statehood’ of the Holy See. It stresses the distinction between the Roman Catholic Church and the Vatican State.
The views of Catholic and non- Catholic authors on the binomial Roman Church - Holy See constitute the supporting point to discuss the character assumed by the Holy See from the Lateran Treaty, signed in 1929 by Mussolini and Pope Pius XI.
Recent data on the political and economic performance of the Holy See serve as premonitory elements of the actions that the modern Mexican State must take into account to defend their autonomy in such crucial issues as secular education, the right of women to legal abortion, homosexuality and clerical pederasty.
