MORALES GAMEZ, Luis Miguel. Human security and rights as well as the fight against drug trafficking in Mexico (2006-2012). Tla-melaua [online]. 2017, vol.10, n.41, pp.138-157. ISSN 2594-0716.
The term human security refers to the safety of individuals and communities, not the traditional concept that refers to the States. It makes people the object of reference. This expands the notion of security to a condition beyond the existence represented by a dignified life, to a well-being and dignity for all human beings. In the presidential term of Felipe Calderón (2006-2012), Mexico underwent one of the most violent stages of its contemporary history. Calderon’s Term was characterized by an all fight against drug trafficking this has left deep aftermath issues in the security of Mexican People. This paper aims to analyze how such security and human rights have been threatened by Calderon’s policies.
