This article analyzes a few aspects of the Mexican diplomacy's emphatic opposition, during the San Francisco Conference (1945), to the acceptance of General Franco's Spain into the newly founded Organization of the United Nations. The Government of Mexico continued with its own line of defense of the Spanish Republic initiated in the multilateral predecessor organization of the UN, the League of Nations, after the coup d'état against the democratic Spanish regime and the subsequent war that was derived from the same coup.
