GUEMES-CASTORENA, David e USCANGA CASTILLO, Gonzalo. Technological project portfolio selection in the early stage of innovation: Development of an evaluation tool. Nova scientia [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.13, pp.101-132. ISSN 2007-0705.
One of the most critical decisions during the early stage of the technologies is how to select what project should receive further funds and resources for its development. Within this context, some challenging questions need to be solved: what are the variables or key determinants of the commercial success in the early stage of technology? What are the most important variables that influence the commercial success? And, how to propose an evaluation tool in order to support the decision? To shade some light to this situation, a bibliographic analysis was performed to identify the factors that influence or impact the commercial success; also, current evaluation methods and tools for technology assessment in the early stage was gathered and analyzed, in order to develop and implement an easy and practical evaluation tool. The result of this research was that the identified variables were grouped in five categories, as well as the questions to be asked in order to evaluate the technology. Also, the relative weight of each category is presented based on paired comparisons. The tool has been implemented and has helped to identify commercial success characteristics of the technological projects.
