CARRASCO-HERNANDEZ, Violeta et al. Characterization of mycorrhizas established between two wild edible mushrooms and native pines of Mexico. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.4, pp.567-577. ISSN 2007-0934.

For an optimum growth, forest species depend on the symbiosis with ectomycorrhizal mushrooms. Additionally, Mexico is an important cultural and biological reserve of species of wild edible mushrooms at world level. In spite of huge ecological, anthropological and practical importance, there are scarce descriptions of ectomycorrhizas formed between edible ectomycorrhizal mushrooms and native plants of Mexico. In this work was done the morphological description of ectomycorrhizas of edible mushrooms Laccaria bicolor and L. proxima in association with Pinus patula and P. pseudostrobus. The synthesis of the studied mycorrhizas was made by means of the inoculation with spores in a sterile substrate, under greenhouse conditions. The ectomycorrhizas formed in plants 397 days after the planting of pines and of the inoculation with fungal species are described. Differences were observed in the micromorphology of the ectomycorrhizas of both fungal species, being the main distinctive characters, the length of the ectomycorrhiza, the ramification type, the shape of non-ramified tips and the color of the apexes. Both species showed the same anatomical arrangement of the external layer of the manttle. It is also added the description of the sporocarp of Laccaria bicolor and L. proxima. This study was carried out in the laboratory of mycorrhizas of the Program of Edaphology of Colegio de Postgraduados en Ciencias Agrícolas (CP) in 2009.
