Resumo

Mexico caters only 3% of domestic demand, so imports annually 3.5 million tons. It is developed a new soybean cultivar for south of State of Tamaulipas, Mexico and other similar tropical areas. It flowers in 48 days after the sowing, plants reach a height of 84 cm, has a cycle of 116 days, six days less than the variety Huasteca 200, so it is harvested before than this variety. Huasteca 100 is resistant to diseases and pests in southern Tamaulipas. The average yield of several trials was 2 387 kg ha-1, 10% superior to that of cultivar Huasteca 200. Is adapted to tropical lowland regions with humid and subhumid climate with annual rainfall average from 800 to 1 000 mm, and average temperature from 25 to 27 °C.
