SANTILLAN-ESPINOZA, Lina Elisa et al. Extreme temperature trends in Zacatecas, México. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.spe2, pp.207-219. ISSN 2007-0934.

The aim of this paper was to estimate the trends in time series of maximum and minimum temperatures, recorded at 24 weather stations of Zacatecas State, to analyze them with the simple linear regression technique. Out o0f the 24 series of maximum temperatures, 13 showed a significant trend (p< 0.05), six showed negative a trend and seven showed a positive one. In contrast, nine of the 24 series of minimum temperatures also showed significant a trend (p< 0.05), eight a negative one and one positive. The average of all trends was 0.068 °C per decade for maximum temperature; while for minimum temperature was -0.235 °C per decade. The average of significant positive trends in maximum temperature was 0.794 °C per decade, while the only significant positive trend of minimum temperature was 0.496 °C per decade. The average of significant negative trends of maximum temperature was -0.648 °C per decade, while for minimum temperature was -0.705 °C per decade. In general, the results suggest that, in most of the Zacatecas' territory the maximum temperature is increasing and, the minimum temperature is decreasing. This is because most of the significant trends of maximum temperatures were positive and most of the significant trends of minimum temperatures were negative.
