Resumo

The effects of compost/soil relations in three mixtures of substrates were studied. The compost/soil relations tested were: T1=0 (100% saline agricultural soil); T2= 0.43 (70% saline agricultural soil + 30% (v/v) of compost); and T3= 4 (20% saline agricultural soil + 80% (v/v) compost); about the concentration and extraction of micronutrients and sodium in petunia (Petunia x hybdrida) under greenhouse conditions in 2008. The compost was elaborated with bovine manure and crop residues; eight months after transplant of these substrates, the concentrations and accumulations of Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, B and Na were determined in roots, stems and leaves. The used-treatments arrangement was completely random with ten repetitions for each of them. The compost/soil relations were related positively with the Fe and B concentrations in roots and Fe in stem and leaves. Likewise, a negative relation was observed between the compost quantity in the substrate and the concentration of Cu and Na in stems and Mn, B and Na in the leaves. On the contrary, with higher compost/soil relation in the substrate, increments were observed in the accumulation of Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, B and Na in the roots; Fe, Zn, Mn, B and Na in the stems and leaves. These results allow us to conclude that, the addition of compost to the growth substrate, reduce the accumulation of Na in leaves and increments the absorption of micronutrients in petunia.
