Resumo

The variety Villa Juárez F2009 was developed in the Norman E. Borlaug Experiment Station, through a collaborative proj ect between the National Research Institute for Fore stry, Agriculture and Livestock (INIFAP) and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) for the producing-areas of the States of Sinaloa, Sonora, Baja California Sur and Baja California in Mexico. Its pedigree is WBLL1*2/BRAMBLING, and its history of selection CGSS01B00062T-099Y-099M-099M-099Y-099M-12Y-0B. Villa Juárez F2009 has the record TRI-122-100910 of the National Catalogue of Plant Varieties of the National Seed Inspection and Certification. This variety is of spring growth habit and resistant to the leaf rust (Puccinia triticina), with average experimental yield of 5.9 t ha-1 with three irrigations in four planting dates, and 7.4 t ha-1 with four irrigations in four planting dates. In plots with farmer cooperators in southern Sonora, Villa Juárez F2009 averaged 7.4 t ha-1 in the agricultural cycle from 2009 to 2010, representing a new option for crystalline wheat farmers in the northwest.
