This paper is a commentary of “On Violence in Art or About Violent Art”, by Natalia Stengel. I argue that violence arrived at museums as consequence of our historic moment. Nevertheless, everyday violence differs from violence portrayed in artworks. Aesthetical distance in art allows a different approach to violence. The artist’s intention is not only to expose the spectator to a traumatic event but to make sense out of the nonsense of violence.
