JIMENEZ IZARRARAZ, María Antonieta. A Methodology for Writing Archaeology to the Public. Intervención (Méx. DF) [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.12, pp.13-24. ISSN 2007-249X.

This research presents a methodology for writing archaeology to the public. The resulting scripts can be used in any project that requires the translation of archaeological information and jargon into a language used by the general public, such as the mounting of museum exhibitions, panels in archaeological sites, amongst others. Using as a framework the model for "Interpretation of Cultural Heritage" originally proposed by Freeman Tilden ([1957] 1977) and followed by other interpreters, this contribution elaborates a personal revision of the methodology. As a result, it proposes a sequence of six steps to achieve interpretive writing of archaeological data: 1) definition of aims, 2) statement of background diagnostics, 3) creation of core and subordinate messages, 4) shaping of line of interest, 5) writing process and, 6) assessment planning.

Palavras-chave : dissemination scripts; archaeological heritage; interpretation of heritage; outreach strategy.
