This article sketches a sort of diagnostic impression of the philosopher’s figure. Although this task may summon other fields of the human knowledge, it does not constitute a psychological study of personality, much less the proposal for a new nosology. Although it is inevitable for this matter to point out the qualitative set of characteristics, affective tendencies and body dispositions usually associated with the philosopher, this exposition tries to stick to the strict philosophical domain and, at the beginning, to start it up from a literary perspective. When talking about diagnosis, it is in a figurative rather than a clinical sense. When talking about species, it is from the Aristotelian logic. And to answer the question of what a philosopher is like, among all its exponents, Nietzsche stands as the main guide, since who summarized with an adjective, of great metaphorical polyvalence, what a philosopher is like, what he must be like: an untimely one.
