Soil organic matter (MOS) has a significant influence on soil capacity productivity and its conservation is an increasing environmental and economic concern. Dealing with this matter is necessary to understand the process which conducts performance as interaction with soil mineral fraction, where the effect of texture over the accumulation of MOS is a controversial matter, and will be explained throughout this work. On first hand, we establish quantitative relationships between MOS, mineral particles <50 mm (FF) and specific surface (SE) in soil samples (0-5 cm deep) collected in Campeche state, México, in tropical dry forest sites absent from agricultural and cattle activity. We observed a significant relationship (R2=0.66; P<0.0001) between FF and SE, both variables explain differently the variation of MOS (39 %; P<0.0001 and 77 %; P<0.0001, respectively), this attributed to the vinculum between organic and mineral compounds from soil, due to adsorption reactions.
