MEDRANO-LEOS, G. et al. Squamous cell carcinoma of the scrotum. Rev. mex. urol. [online]. 2017, vol.77, n.3, pp.219-224.  Epub 04-Jun-2021. ISSN 2007-4085.

BACKGROUND:

Squamous cell carcinoma of the scrotum is a rare entity with only a few reports in the medical literature. It usually presents in elderly patients, is asymptomatic, and causes a bleeding, ulcerated, hard-edged lesion on the scrotum.

CLINICAL CASE:

An 83-year-old man that worked as a chimney sweep and a mechanic was chronically exposed to wood smoke and different chemical agents. He was admitted to the Urology Service with a bleeding ulcer on the left hemiscrotum of 12-month progression. Physical examination identified a 3 x 2 cm superficial ovoid lesion with scant bleeding. No lymph nodes were palpated. Computed tomography showed no evidence of lung, bone, or liver metastases or signs of locoregional or distant lymph node disease. Scrotal carcinoma staging was carried out with the Lowe classification and the TNM classification. The lesion was completely dissected, employing a wide spindle-shaped incision with approximately 2 cm margins. The patient had adequate postoperative progression, did not receive adjuvant therapy, and is currently under surveillance.
