BAUTISTA HERNANDEZ, Gildardo; FREGOSO BORREGO, Daniel; VERA NORIEGA, José Ángel  e  PEREZ RAMOS, Marisol. Moral Disengagement, Parental Practices and Perception of the Observer of Violence. Acta de investigación psicol [online]. 2021, vol.11, n.2, pp.53-69.  Epub 14-Jan-2022. ISSN 2007-4719.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fpsi.20074719e.2021.2.382.

Within the peer aggression and school bullying, three important factors or participants can be identified: aggressors, victims and observants. The goal of this study is to analyze the effects of moral disengagement, the prosocial parental practices and the perception of violence on the behavior of the observers, protectors and aggressors, in students of junior high school. There were 386 participants from the first and second grade of a junior high school located in Mexico State. The students answered the following scales: general rating of school violence, moral disengagement, observers of bullying, inventory of prosocial behaviors in the school context, prosocial parenting practices. The instrument was applied in each group and each student signed an informed consent. Mediation and moderation analysis were made. The results indicated that while the degree of agreement with the mechanisms of moral disengagement increases, the negative behavior of the observant-aggressor also increases; the same happens with the perceived violence within equals. On the other hand, positive and statistically significant relations between prosocial parental practices, prosocial behaviors and the behavior of being the observant-protector were found. In conclusion, the social-emotional learning is related to the upbringing and the quality of family interactions, which are moderated or mediated by the social context in where the families and schools are located.
