José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi is one of the greatest minds that go through the XVIII and XIX century. He divulged his ideas of freedom, justice, tolerance and equality in the press media, reason that leaded him to be persecuted and confined, since the time that he lived in were times of mental, spiritual and physical repression. Through his verses, he explained the statements of the Spanish constitution from 1812. He made a commitment country while proposing a complete education for the individual, completed in all the aspects: moralist, religious, institutional, and in the family aspect as well. He spent a lot of effort trying to build a political consciousness in the people; he portrayed an ideal society, that would lived in harmony and be a corrected version of it, in some of his writings such as Conversaciones del payo y el sacristan, El Pensador Mexicano and El Periquillo Sarniento. Fernández de Lizardi was a man of letters but also a journalist who made a commitment with his country trying to change the status of the lower classes getting rid of the abusiveness, and the individuals such as servants and slaves turned in into citizens in a republican government, that would be leaded by a president and with a Magna Carta as basis.
