ORTIZ ISABELES, Cristian Jonathan  e  GARCIA AVITIA, César Augusto. Relationship Between Work Engagement and Sociodemographic and Labor Variables in Tertiary Sector Mexican Workers. Psicumex [online]. 2023, vol.13, e550.  Epub 26-Fev-2024. ISSN 2007-5936.  https://doi.org/10.36793/psicumex.v13i1.550.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between work engagement and some sociodemographic and labor variables. The study method consisted of a cross-sectional, descriptive, and comparative design for some variables and a correlational for others. Convenience sampling was used, including 293 workers from 27 different organizations in Colima, Mexico. The Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9) and a sociodemographic, economic, and labor variables questionnaire were used. Most relevant results show a significant positive correlation between work engagement and age. In addition, there was a significant difference by gender with reference to dedication, a work engagement dimension, where women showed higher results. As it relates to academic level, workers whose highest level of education is technical school show higher levels of participation than the rest. The only significant difference was with those who studied up to high school level. In conclusion, only some studied variables show significant relationships or differences with respect to work engagement, so it is necessary to continue with more studies in Mexico and other contexts to fully understand the factors that influence this important organizational well-being variable.
