SALINAS FLEITMAN, Moisés  e  SALINAS FLEITMAN, Jaime Israel. Development of a Research Culture in On Line and On site Graduate Education Programs. RIDE. Rev. Iberoam. Investig. Desarro. One of the most important factors in the training of new researchers is to develop a research culture that is acquired through the transmission of knowledge and values for the practice of this activity. The purpose of this paper was to explore to what extent a research culture was developed in students in an online master's program in the area of education, compared to a face-to-face program. To this purpose, an investigation was carried out with a mixed methodology in two sequential phases. First, a set of instruments was used to compare the values, knowledge and practices that characterize the research culture, based on a convenience sample of students from two master's programs in education taught by private higher education institutions in Mexico, one online, and one face-to-face. Subsequently, semi-structured ethnographic interviews and a text analysis of a sample of thesis projects in the online program were carried out to identify factors that facilitate the development of a research culture in the online program. The results of this study indicate that in general, the students of the face-to-face program developed a greater research culture than the students of the online program, but evidence was found that, in the online program, when there is a close interaction with the professors and the opportunity for hands-on research activities, this facilitates the proper development of a research culture.
