Agrobiodiversity as a concept reflects the dynamics and complex relationships between human societies and the plant species grown in diverse environments, whose results have an impact on conservation policies of the ecosystems, on food and nutritional security in human populations, such as on the and local sustainable development. The objective of the present study was to characterize the agricultural production systems on a small scale as a strategy of family subsistence from their conservation, use and management of agrobiodiversity. The information for this research was obtained of a survey realized by statistical sampling to Ejidal producers in five localities in Yucatan and the parameters were estimated according to proposed by agroecology or sustainable agriculture. The obtained results indicate that the peasant family socioeconomic factors influence a decisive on the management and exploitation of the agrobiodiversity of milpa, from production destined for self-consumption (87.1 %). Shannon-Wiener (5.0), Margalef (25.8) and Fisher (76.4), rates showed that agricultural biodiversity in traditional systems of production in Yucatan have a richness and significant abundance of plant species which are cultivated for subsistence of peasant family; among them include 13 maize varieties, three squashes and seven leguminous, that indicates the importance that represents the maize production in food and supplies for the peasant household Access.
