CATRIP-PINTOR, Ana Karen; HERNANDEZ-FLORES, José Álvaro  e  MENDEZ-ESPINOZA, José Arturo. Short food chains typology in tianguis and periurban markets in the region of Cholula, Puebla. Estud. soc. Rev. aliment. contemp. desarro. reg. [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.56, e20995.  Epub 06-Dez-2021. ISSN 2395-9169.  https://doi.org/10.24836/es.v30i56.995.

Objective:

To characterize and typify the Short Food Supply Chains (SFSC) located in markets of the suburban municipalities of San Pedro and San Andrés Cholula, in the state of Puebla, Mexico.

Methodology:

The methodological strategy was the multiple case study. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used for this purpose. The techniques used were documentary analysis, participant observation, semi-structured interviews with producers, administrators and public officials, and the application of consumer surveys.

Results:

Three types of SFSC were identified, each with different strengths and weaknesses.

Limitations:

Given the interest in highlighting the role of direct sales schemes in strengthening peri-urban agriculture, the typology was constructed based on the attributes of the producers, leaving out other actors.

Conclusions:

The study underline the importance of these spaces in establishing direct links that benefit both producers and consumers, as well as in creating synergies between urban and rural areas.
