TADEO-SANCHEZ, José Manuel  e  TOLENTINO-MARTINEZ, Jessica Mariela. Tabasco´s Grijalva cocoa: Socio-territorial dynamics around it´s production. Estud. soc. Rev. aliment. contemp. desarro. reg. [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.56, e201002.  Epub 06-Dez-2021. ISSN 2395-9169.  https://doi.org/10.24836/es.v30i56.1002.

Objective:

The objective of this work is to analyze under the Localized Agrifood Systems (SIAL) approach, the organizational and socio-spatial dynamics that are redefining the cocoa area of the Grijalva region of Tabasco.

Methodology:

It was applied through two operational concepts: tacit knowledge and patrimonialization.

Results:

The work reflects obtained results, to a large extent, from the semi-structured interviews carried out with key actors in some municipalities of the Grijalva region.

Limitations:

The recent obtaining of the Appellation of Origin will not allow evaluating the advances or regression around the SIAL of Cacao de Grijalva; it is necessary to come back to the region to deepen the diagnosis. Furthermore, it is important to make a greater number of interviews with key actors to give continuity to the research.

Conclusions:

It is concluded that, although the cocoa sector faces several problems, the territorial anchorage based on the productive particularities and the know-how of its producers motivates the actors involved to continue working to reposition it as a high-quality product that can be offered in specialized markets.
