Objective:

To describe the process of bordering during the partial closure of the border between Mexico and the United States.

Methodology:

The statistics of border crossings during the period of partial closure of the border in the Sonora and Arizona region are analyzed. There is a description of the political environment during this period where new migratory movements and the intensification of the diplomatic relationship between Mexico and the United States stand out, where the donation of vaccines to prevent the Coronavirus disease stands out.

Results:

A contrasting difference could be found between the minimal interruption of the crossing of consumer goods and people, as well as border resilience derived from the number of people who kept crossing the border despite the limitations and uncertainty generated by this contingency.

Limitations:

The study was conducted only with statistics from U.S. agencies, due to the lack of data from Mexican public agencies.

Conclusions:

The bordering concept is reinforced to establish the process of order and classification, as well as the "coexistence" of rebordering and debordering, derived from the policies of "Covid-19 fences". This is during the Pandemic, in which a clear distinction is observed between doors open to goods; limited and catalogued openness for people, based on evidence of ports of entry between the states of Sonora and Arizona.
