GARCIA FLORES, Alan Jair  e  CONTRERAS LOPEZ, Rebeca Elizabeth. Chiaroscuro of the criminal policy against SOCE: A guarantee vision in Mexico?. Derecho glob. Estud. sobre derecho justicia [online]. 2023, vol.9, n.25, pp.147-167.  Epub 22-Jan-2024. ISSN 2448-5136.  https://doi.org/10.32870/dgedj.v9i25.495.

Efforts to change people’s sexual orientation (ECOS) represent an edge of violence due to prejudice that violates the right of free development of personality and human dignity. Although international organizations have announced that they lack scientific support, are ineffective and constitute a kind of torture, their presence is noted in at least 68 countries. This article uses the dogmatic-legal, systematic-legal and content analysis methods, in order to address the normative design of the Mexican criminal policy against conversion therapies promoted in 2020, by adding article 190 quarter to the Penal Code for the Federal District, which will allow us to reflect on some points of opportunity that should not go unnoticed in a guarantor State, for example, the location of the criminal offense and the evidentiary problems that the mode of commission and the intentionality of the active subject entails.

Palavras-chave : Homosexuality; SOCE; heteronormativity; human dignity; free development of the personality.
